After the renovation, there is now more seating, but personally I preferred the layout before.

Overall: 8/10

(1-4: will never come back, 5: pass (I’m okay with a tinier morsel), 6: acceptable, 7: okay, 8: good, 9: Wow! Please enlarge my morsel. 10: Perfection. I could eat a morsel of this every day!)

Will come back? Yes

What I ate:

Concorde Praline (hazelnut cocoa meringue, chocolate guimauve, dark chocolate praline mousse, chocolate Chantilly)

  • 7.5/10
  • After hearing a lot of good comments about this cake, I purchased it for a birthday. But I picked the wrong cake for an Asian family gathering. It was overly sweet and too much chocolate. Would have preferred another flavour to balance out the chocolate. This was just chocolate, on chocolate, on chocolate, on chocolate literally.
  • The chocolate Chantilly cream was very nice and smooth, perfect sweetness
  • The hazelnut cocoa meringue tasted somewhat like a marshmallow but didn’t add anything special to the overall texture of the cake
  • BUT the chocolate guimauve ruined the cake, it was way too sweet for my palate and although it did add to the texture, still too sweet

Matcha Exotique (Green tea mousse, mango-passion fruit gelee, lychees, black sesame biscuit joconde)

  • 8.5/10
  • Thoroughly enjoyed this cake, the green tea has a bit of a bitterness to it which I enjoyed
  • The black sesame which outlined the outside of the cake and around the surprise gelee in the middle was interesting
  • The mango passion fruit gelee was on the sour side but together with the matcha flavour I think it matched nicely
  • The lychees were pouches of sweet surprise waiting in the gelee to surprise you
  • Overall, a very well-constructed cake filled with surprises

Small box of Macaroons

  • 7.5/10
  • Not the best macaroons I’ve had
  • Lacked that crispness when you bite into a macaroon and the chewiness from the inside
  • The flavours were nothing special, none of them really stood out
  • (Taking a guess at the flavour: Passion fruit – sour ending, chocolate ganache in the middle, Pistachio – too sweet, not enough pistachio flavour, Raspberry – not overly sweet but again couldn’t really taste the raspberry, Chocolate – crusty filling, Hazelnut)

Summary: Make the right decision, pick the right cake. All of their cakes are very well thought out. Can’t wait to go back and try more.
