Bubble Queen

Date Visited: August 4 2014
Address: 8888 Odlin Crescent Richmond, BC V6X3Z7
Type of Restaurant: Bubble Tea, Smoothies, Desserts
Price Range: $
Ambiance (out of five): 3/5 – cramped and limited seating, the café is very smoky because of the bubble waffle machines
Recommended: Matcha Mochi bubble waffle, fresh mango cube bubble tea and fresh papaya bubble tea
Overall: 8.5/10
(1-4: will never come back, 5: pass (I’m okay with a tinier morsel), 6: acceptable, 7: okay, 8: good, 9: Wow! Please enlarge my morsel. 10: Perfection. I could eat a morsel of this every day!)
Will come back? Yes – it’s one of my bubble tea staples
What I ate:
Matcha Mochi Bubble Waffle
  • 8/10
  • Not overly sweet
  • Matcha flavour strong but not strong enough
  • The mochi added a nice chewy flavour which I enjoyed
  • But the outside was not as crispy as I would have wanted
Sesame Bubble Waffle
  • 7.5/10
  • This batch was a bit burnt
  • The sesame flavour was strong enough
  • Again not overly sweet, just the right amount of sweetness
  • Even though it was burnt, it wasn’t crispy – disappointing

Fresh Mango Cube Bubble Tea
  • 9/10
  • A little sweeter than I would have liked
  • Good amount of mango
  • Tasted fresh and very filling
  • But a tad bit expensive
Summary: This bubble tea place is usually very busy. I got there at opening time and there were already a good amount of people waiting. There usual bubble tea flavours aren’t that amazing, but the special flavours like Ferraro are nothing else you can find in the city. The fresh flavours are also pretty good. The Bubble waffles are also quite nice I would recommend it.
