Flying Pig

Date Visited: August 6 2014

Address: 1168 Hamilton St Vancouver, BC

Type of Restaurant: Pacific Northwest, Canadian

Price Range: $$$

Ambiance (out of five): 4/5 – very relaxed, friendly server, not too loud during happy hour

Overall: 7/10

(1-4: will never come back, 5: pass (I’m okay with a tinier morsel), 6: acceptable, 7: okay, 8: good, 9: Wow! Please enlarge my morsel. 10: Perfection. I could eat a morsel of this every day!)

Will come back? No – I’ve been here for brunch and I’ve been here for happy hour. But nothing has blown me away or makes me want to come back.

What I ate:

Truffled Mac and Cheese

  • 7.5/10
  • The pasta was a bit over cooked
  • Good amount of cheese
  • Nothing special

Steamed Clams

  • 7.5/10
  • The crispy fries on top are pretty addictive
  • There were around 6 clams
  • The clams are nice and juicy but lacked some flavour

Halibut Poppers

  • 7/10
  • The outside was nicely breaded and crispy
  • The halibut on the inside was a bit dry
  • It lacked flavour if you ate it without the dip

Summary: The price was very reasonable for the portions. But nothing was amazing. Nice place to hang out with some friends over a glass of wine.
