Ambiance (out of five): 4.5/5 – very comfortable setting, ambiance was relaxed, servers tentative, but a kind of business setting

Overall: 7.5/10

(1-4: will never come back, 5: pass (I’m okay with a tinier morsel), 6: acceptable, 7: okay, 8: good, 9: Wow! Please enlarge my morsel. 10: Perfection. I could eat a morsel of this every day!)

Will come back? No

What I ate:

Quadra island We kai kai Scallops – fingerling potato, chorizo, romanesco sauce

  • 7.5/10
  • the scallops were cooked nicely and had a bit of smoky flavour
  • the chorizo matched nicely
  • the fingerling potatoes were kind of boring and didn’t go well with the scallops, if they were crispier it would have added more texture
  • the romanesco sauce added no depth to the dish at all and wasn’t properly salted, I would have preferred a different sauce to go with the scallops

Braised AAA angus beef short rib sandwich – roasted tomato aioli, pickled shallots, goat cheese on grilled country bread

  • 7.5/10
  • The bread was soggy by the time it got to the table because of the aioli on the bread, wish the bread was heated on the grill
  • The angus short rib was slightly hard to pull apart – needs to be braised for longer
  • Lacked vegetables

Summary: Food was okay, presentation was good, atmosphere was good
