Cho Sun BBQ Korean restaurant

Date Visited: August 28 2014
Address:  3486 Kingsway  Vancouver, BC
Type of Restaurant: Korean, Barbeque
Price Range: $$
Ambiance (out of five): 3/5 – can be kind of smoky at times because of the barbeque (not very good ventilation), seating was cramped
Overall: 6.5/10
(1-4: will never come back, 5: pass (I’m okay with a tinier morsel), 6: acceptable, 7: okay, 8: good, 9: Wow! Please enlarge my morsel. 10: Perfection. I could eat a morsel of this every day!)
Will come back? No
What I ate:
Kimchi Pancake – Korean style pancake made with kimchi, chilli pepper and Green onion
  • 6.5/10
  • The pancake was too dense and wet
  • The outside wasn’t crispy enough
  • The amount of kimchi made the pancake more on the sour side
  • Would have preferred a crispier outside
Juicy Galbi – Beef short ribs marinated in homemade Juicy sauce
  • 6/10
  • The marinade was okay wasn’t too salty or sweet but it tasted too generic and out of the bottle
  • The cut of meat itself was very tough and hard to eat at some points
  • The amount of muscle in the meat was unappealing
Pork Bulgogi – thinly sliced tender pork marinated in house spicy sauce
  • 7/10
  • Many of the pieces of meat given to us were very small and way too chopped up to grill, many of the pieces would just burn really quickly
  • The marinade was not spicy at all and was on the sweeter side
  • Wasn’t tough to eat, very tender and thin
Summary: My advice – try to change grills after every time you finish. The food is mediocre, service was slow
