Address: 2141 Granville St Vancouver, BC
Type of Restaurant: Desserts/ice cream, coffee/tea
Price Range: $$
Ambiance (out of five)/Setting/Design/service: Service – was slow and unbelievable unresponsive, the ambiance was very romantic 3/5 because it was so dark and moody, the design was very old school coffee shop feel
(1-4: will never come back, 5: pass (I’m okay with a tinier morsel), 6: acceptable, 7: okay, 8: good, 9: Wow! Please enlarge my morsel. 10: Perfection. I could eat a morsel of this every day!)
Will come back? No – I’ve been eating their cheesecakes ever since I was little and I guess it always held a special place in my heart. But I haven’t visited in a long time and now that I have, I guess my palate has matured. It’s not what it used to be, but it will always be part of my childhood memories.
What I ate:
Cheesecake with Mocha sauce
Very rich and dense, the cheese flavour was not very prominent though
The mocha sauce didn’t add any extra flavour or texture
Wasn’t too sweet
Gourmet Original Cheesecake – Tiramisu
Not as rich as the original cheesecake with mocha sauce
had the lightness of a tiramisu but lacked the creaminess and liquor fragrance
Things to Improve on:
This dessert place has been around for 35 years and being named cheesecake etc. I would hope that their cheesecakes would be near perfection.
Unfortunately that isn’t the case. There cheesecakes are not as good as I would expect them to be
Service also lacked friendliness and attentiveness
Summary: The cheesecakes aren’t that good.
