Date Visited: October 5 2014
Address: 156 W 8th Avenue Vancouver, BC
Type of Restaurant: Coffee, Desserts
Price Range: $
Recommended: Mochas
Overall: 7.5/10
(1-4: will never come back, 5: pass (I’m okay with a tinier morsel), 6: acceptable, 7: okay, 8: good, 9: Wow! Please enlarge my morsel. 10: Perfection. I could eat a morsel of this every day!)
Will come back? Yes – good place for studying and having a quiet talk with friends
What I ate:
Ying Yang Mocha
  • 8/10
  • The coffee and chocolate could both be tasted. I hate it when you can only taste coffee and no chocolate but in this case you could taste both
  • It was a bite sweeter than what I would have preferred
  • Overall, quite enjoyable
Matcha Latte
  • 7/10
  • Lacked matcha flavour
  • Too much milk
  • Wasn’t as smooth as I would have liked, faintly tasted almond flour in it
Lavender Chocolate Bar (forgot the exact name, definitely some exotic name)
  • 7/10
  • Very rich and creamy
  • The nuts gave it a nice crunch
  • I would have preferred more nuts than chocolate
  • I could not taste the lavender at all which was disappointing.
Things to Improve on: Could work on presentation of desserts on the counter, matcha latte needs to be improved by adding more matcha extract or powder
Summary: They provide many gluten free options and the coffee is acceptable but not the best in the city.
