The Benton Brother Fine Cheese

Date Visited: November 14 2014
Address: 2104 West 41st Ave  Vancouver, BC V6M1Z6
Type of Restaurant: Sandwiches/subs, delicatessen
Price Range: $$
Overall: 6.5/10
(1-4: will never come back, 5: pass (I’m okay with a tinier morsel), 6: acceptable, 7: okay, 8: good, 9: Wow! Please enlarge my morsel. 10: Perfection. I could eat a morsel of this every day!)
Will come back? No
What I ate:
Gruyere Swiss: Cow: Raw
  • 7/10
  • Good heavy rich cheese, would want to purchase again
Pecorino Romano Italy: Sheep
  • 6.5/10
  • Similar to the gruyere but much saltier and grainier
  • Had a nutty flavour
  • 6.5/10
  • There was definitely more than triple that bread ratio to filling
  • The fillings were good but the bread was chewy
  • I would have preferred it panini’d and with more filling
  • Their choice of cheese and ham really complimented each other
  • But it was dry because of a lack of mayonnaise or sauce
  • I also wished there was some topping like a pickled vegetable
Things to Improve on: The sandwiches
Summary: Honestly, it was too expensive. I know I know it’s all about the quality but I feel that you could get the same quality for cheaper prices at somewhere like Santa Barbara Grocery Store over in Commercial. The Sandwiches were also lacking.
