Ambiance (out of five)/Setting/Design/service:
4/5 – service was exceptional and accommodating, the ambiance had the feel of Café Regalade (This being the old location of it). The design is exactly the same.
Overall: 8/10
(1-4: will never come back, 5: pass (I’m okay with a tinier morsel), 6: acceptable, 7: okay, 8: good, 9: Wow! Please enlarge my morsel. 10: Perfection. I could eat a morsel of this every day!)
Will come back? Maybe to try other items on the menu
What I ate:
Braised Short Ribs – 7 hour braised, peppercorn sauce, honey glazed carrots, frites
  • 8/10
  • Overly salted
  • The braised short ribs could have used another hour or so to really make it pull apart easily
  • The honey glazed carrots added a nice sweetness to the dish to offset the saltiness but not enough
  • The peppercorn sauce was the cause of the saltiness but it went well with the frites
  • The frites could have been crispier and they were salted as well so it made the dish even saltier
  • I liked that the dish came with bread to soak up the peppercorn sauce
  • The sauce itself although over salted, it was nice and creamy, if it wasn’t as salty I think the flavours would have come through better
  • The flavours were very strong
Britanny Breakfast – 2 scramble eggs, shrimp, lingcod, fish veloute, potatoes, salad
  • 8/10
  • Could taste the fishiness in the sauce which was very enjoyable
  • The scramble eggs added a nice creaminess to everything and there was a good amount of shrimp and fish
  • Still a tad salty
Lemon Tart
  • 7/10
  • I would call it a lemon tart I would name it a custard lemon tart
  • The lemon tart was very pungent but not overly so
  • It had the texture of a custard lemon tart, eggy yet had a tartness to it
  • The sugar crust on the bottom was nice and crunchy
  • I believed it was bruleed on the top but not well because it added no additional crunch whatsoever
  • I would have given it a higher rating if it had a crunchy aspect to it and the sweetness from the bruleed sugar would have added a plus too
  • 6/10
  • Disappointing
  • Was not flaky at all, maybe even a bit hard
  • Lacked buttery- ness and a buttery fragrance
Things to Improve on: the croissants, small details, careful on the salt
Summary: Another interesting addition to the brunch/breakfast scene. The croissants need to be improved. The dishes are interesting and I would say other places in Vancouver don’t have flavours like these.
