Ambiance (out of five)/Setting/Design/service: 4/5 – comfortable
Overall: 6.5/10
(1-4: will never come back, 5: pass (I’m okay with a tinier morsel), 6: acceptable, 7: okay, 8: good, 9: Wow! Please enlarge my morsel. 10: Perfection. I could eat a morsel of this every day!)
Will come back? No
Came here on Remembrance Day and there was no line at around 11:45 but after we sat down a line started forming outside. The service was nice and everyone gets a bun at the table. The bun was cold but I still enjoyed it because well it’s food! And I’m not afraid to say that I smothered it in butter (which unfortunately did not melt). I ordered hot water and but the bread with butter on top of the water so it would melt.
What I ate:
Linguini Alla Carbonara (in dinner size) – Pancetta, eggs and fresh cracked black pepper in cream sauce
  • 6.5/10
  • This was a failed Carbonara, you could see the egg whites as huge chunks in the sauce making it chunky and not smooth
  • The linguini itself was over cooked
  • But the flavour of the dish overall was not too salty which was good and was actually kind of sweet
  • I wish it had more pancetta
Agnolotti Cardinale – meat stuffed pasta in a creamy tomato meat sauce
  • 6.5/10
  • This one was too salty
  • The tomato sauce was on the more sour part
  • There was a good amount of meat in the meat sauce
  • The stuffed pasta was over cooked and fell apart when I tried to pick it up
  • The meat inside was seasoned with too much with pepper to a point where it was spicy
Penne All’Arrabbiata – Italian bacon in a spicy tomato sauce
  • 7/10
  • The best out of the three or should I say the most well rounded
  • It was perfectly salted and the pasta was cooked al dente
  • But it lacked Italian bacon and was also over peppered
Things to Improve on: Control of salt content, make a better carbonara, include more meat in the linguini alla carbonara, flavours need to be more developed
Summary: The pasta at Anton’s is very filling. The flavours need to be improved. The food is mediocre.
