Ambiance (out of five)/Setting/Design/service: 4.5/5 – Ambiance was great and design is unique. Service was friendly.
Overall: 7/10
(1-4: will never come back, 5: pass (I’m okay with a tinier morsel), 6: acceptable, 7: okay, 8: good, 9: Wow! Please enlarge my morsel. 10: Perfection. I could eat a morsel of this every day!)
Will come back? Yes
What I ate:
Monthly Lunch Special – Beef Hot pot
  • 7/10
  • The beef hot pot was poorly executed
  • The beef was all clumped together because we weren’t given utensils to move it around with
  • The flavours were on the salty side and the broth was nothing special
Sizzling Stone eel Hitsuma – Bushi: Eel fillet cooked in soy flavoured sauce served in a sizzling stone bowl in rice. Served with house special broth on the side for the after half. This is Nagoya’s famous local dish
  • 7/10
  • Good amount of eel – nice and smoky
  • Again on the saltier side
  • The broth toned down the salty flavour
Today’s 3 kinds sashimi salad – 3 kinds of sashimi on a bed of organic springs. Dressed with soy-based vinaigrette and garlic oil
  • 7/10
  • Again on the saltier side, a tad too much dressing
  • The sashimi is nice and fresh – the cuts were well made
Things to Improve on: Holding back on the salt
Summary: The ambiance was great. The food did not live up to my previous visit. Too much salt can ruin a meal.
