Small Victory Bakery

Date Visited: December 30 2014
Address: 1088 Homer St  Vancouver, BC
Type of Restaurant: Bakery, coffee
Price Range: $$
Ambiance (out of five)/Setting/Design/service: 3.5/5 – the service was really friendly, the design was sleek and modern, the vent, which turned on every few minutes, was so loud it was hard to hear at times
Overall: 6.5/10
(1-4: will never come back, 5: pass (I’m okay with a tinier morsel), 6: acceptable, 7: okay, 8: good, 9: Wow! Please enlarge my morsel. 10: Perfection. I could eat a morsel of this every day!)
Will come back? No
What I ate:
  • 6.5/10
  • Tasted kind of watered down – the texture was not smooth and creamy enough
  • The coffee was somewhat strong
  • The chocolate flavour was lacking and lacked depth
Lemon Crème Brulee Tart
  • 6.5/10
  • The tart was not buttery enough and was overly floury
  • It was hard to cut threw without making a mess
  • The lemon filling was really sour which I did enjoy
  • The crème bruleed top was not done freshly which resulted in a lack of crunchiness and caramelized flavour on top
Things to Improve on: Overall flavours and making of the tart
Summary: Chic new bakery in Yaletown serving acceptable coffee and mediocre tasting pastries.
