Type of Restaurant: British, pub food, brunch
Price Range: $$$
Background: Came here for the new brunch service they started on Saturdays and Sundays
Ambiance (out of five)/Setting/Design/service: 4.5/5 – very pub style (different from the usual generic modern looking places) but kind of squishy and awkward spacing, service was friendly and informative
Overall: 5.75/10
(1-4: will never come back, 5: pass (I’m okay with a tinier morsel), 6: acceptable, 7: okay, 8: good, 9: Wow! Please enlarge my morsel. 10: Perfection. I could eat a morsel of this every day!)
Will come back? No
What I ate:
The Welsh – Welsh rarebit grilled cheese with ham and a fried duck egg
  • 5.75/10
  • Extremely disappointing dish (I don’t know maybe I choose the wrong dish to try)
  • The grilled cheese bread was way too hard and crunchy making it hard to eat and cut (cut myself on the sides of my mouth)
  • The cheese itself was way too salty and didn’t have that grilled cheese effect where the cheese stretches
  • The ham was masked by the saltiness of the cheese
  • The fried duck egg was an interesting touch and slightly balanced the saltiness just slightly though
Things to Improve on: overall flavours and execution
Summary: Disappointing brunch service. I’m not sure if I picked the wrong dish or if they fluked but overall I wouldn’t recommend it.
