What I ate:

“PO-TAY-TO PO-TAH-TO” (Hot Chocolate made with Michel Cluizel ‘Mokaya’ chocolate and flavoured with sage, cinnamon and purple potatoes. Served with a toasted yam marshmallow.)

  • 6.5/10
  • This hot chocolate was not too sweet, could definitely taste the cinnamon
  • But the purple potato flavour was definitely missing and so was the chocolate flavour
  • The tasted yam marshmallow was also too sweet but I liked the chewiness and the crunchiness of it

Flourless Chocolate Cake

  • 6/10
  • This was definitely too sweet for me
  • The melted chocolate on the side added nothing to the cakes overall flavour or texture
  • The cake itself was really moist and had a strong chocolate flavour
  • Very decadent

Pistachio Macaron

  • 8/10
  • Strong pistachio flavour, nutty and warm flavours, filling was good
  • Didn’t taste artificial
  • The shell was done nicely à chewy on the inside and crisp on the outside, did not fall apart on me

Rose macaron

  • 6/10
  • Disappointing flavour
  • Not aromatic like I wanted it to be
  • Too sweet, lacked rose flavour, not delicate enough to be a rose macaron

Crème Brulee Macaron

  • 5.5/10
  • This was the worst one out of the many I tried
  • It didn’t taste like crème brulee at all
  • The outside tasted somewhat burnt and the shell crumbled easily
  • There was basically no taste to this but sweet

Mint Chocolate Macaron

  • 8/10
  • I liked this one
  • The mint flavour was very dominant and was not shy at all
  • But the chocolate balanced it out nicely

Matcha Macaron

  • 8.5/10
  • Very strong matcha flavour
  • Not too sweet, just the right amount of matchaness (not bitter either)
  • My favourite of the bunch

Caffe Mocha Macaron

  • 8.5/10
  • The caffe mocha one was also very prominent
  • The coffee flavour was strong but also smooth and the beans tasted great
  • Second favourite of the bunch

Things to Improve on: The controlling of the sweetness of their cakes, perfecting their flavours

Summary: Some great flavours at Soirette in terms of macarons but the cakes and drinks need some tweaking. A very cute and pretty place for some girl talk.
