What I ate:

Hot and Sour soup with Shredded Chicken
  • 6/10
  • This was disappointing
  • It was way too hot and lacked flavour other than hot
  • There was an okay amount of shredded chicken
  • Overall flavour was disappointing

Satays – pork, beef, lamb with peanut sauce
  • Pork – 7/10 The pork was not tender enough but quite flavourful
  • Lamb – 7.5/10 The lamb was more tender but lacked lamb flavour
  • Beef – 8/10 The beef was the best out of the three – tender and flavourful

Stir fried Radish cake – with shrimp and Chinese sausage
  • 7.5/10
  • The stir fried Radish cake was one of the better dishes of the night
  • The Chinese sausage and shrimp added a nice aroma to the entire dish
  • I wish the outsides were slightly crispier
  • The portion was small for the price paid

Roti Canai (|Malay bread)
  • 5.5/10
  • Pretty bad roti canai
  • Lacked butteriness and fatness to it
  • Was very dry and floury
  • Not a lot of layers
Hainanese Roast Chicken
  • 6/10
  • Disappointing hainanese chicken
  • It was dry
  • Lacked a fat layer between skin and meat
  • The flavour was only on the outside and the inside was left flavourless

Pad Thai
  • 5.5/10
  • Noodles were over cooked and was very chopped up (not long enough)
  • The flavours were not balanced and very light – couldn’t taste the contrasts of fish sauce, soy sauce and sweetness
  • Tasted strongly of ketchup which was weird and somewhat revolting

Nasi Goreng – Malay fried rice with shrimp, minced pork and chicken
  • 7/10
  • The Malay Friend rice was okay compared to the Pad Thai
  • The rice was nicely separated from each other and there was an acceptable amount of minced pork and chicken
  • It was flavourful and not overly salted
Summary: Disappointing eats from Tropika. I would not recommend a trip there. Overall mediocre food at a slightly pricey charge
