Wishes and Luck (CLOSED)

Date Visited: June 20 2015
What I ate:
Cappuccino
  • 6/10
  • Had too much milk in it
  • Foam was not stiff enough
  • There was no depth to the cappuccino, tasted bland, more like a latte
Processed with VSCOcam with m5 preset
Egg mac – bacon, scrambled eggs, processed cheese, lots of butter
  • 6.5/10
  • This dish was… interesting. It reminded me somewhat of McDonalds fish filet because of the pickly-mayonnaisey –thousandisland-dressing type of sauce which over masked the entire dish
  • The bacon was overcooked – it wasn’t crunchy, it was more burnt and crumbly when eaten
  • The scrambled eggs were again over masked by the sauce, but it was fluffy though
  • The processed cheese added a savoury element to it
  • The bread itself was okay, nothing special
  • The lettuce did add a bit of freshness to it, which added a bit of crunch but it still wasn’t enough to balance the pickle sauce
French toast – house bread, caramel bananas, whipped coconut, toasted coconut
  • 7.5/10
  • The house bread was very dry and lacked flavour and moistness
  • But luckily it was toasted so it added a bit of crunch
  • The caramel bananas though were great – it was not too mushy and had a strong banana flavour to it
  • It was on the sweeter side though

Meatballs and toast – meatballs, toast, sunny side egg, cheese
  • 8/10
  • Meatballs were not bad – was not dry on the inside, flavourful because of the great balance of spices (but not so much that it over took the original taste of the meat)
  • The toast itself wasn’t too hard, just the right amount of crispness

Avocado eggs benedict (v/gf) – poached eggs, pico de gallo, corn cake, avocado, baby potatoes
  • 6.5/10
  • This one was not my cup of tea
  • The corn cake did not hold well, it was crumbly
  • Couldn’t really taste the avocado
  • The pico de gallo did add an element of freshness but overall it was meh
Processed with VSCOcam
Crab benedict – crab, cucumber, roasted red pepper salsa, hollandaise
  • 7/10
  • The eggs were cooked just right
  • The red pepper salsa, I felt, didn’t compliment the dish that well – it was kind of sour
  • The crab that was in the middle of the benedict was very broken and didn’t taste fresh, couldn’t taste the crab at all
Processed with VSCOcam
Jerk Pork hash – poached eggs, crispy potato + red pepper hash, hollandaise
  • 7/10
  • Not bad – first time seeing a hash with such small pieces instead of medium size pieces
  • Good portion of hash
  • The poached eggs were again very runny and of good quality
  • Well-seasoned – but nothing amazing, somewhat boring after a while

Things to Improve on: flavours, textures of food
Summary: I was quite disappointed with their brunch. It was inconsistent and the food was not all that great. The service was good but doesn’t mean that I would come back.
