Amay’s House Burmese and Asian Cuisine

 Date Visited: May 9 2015
What I ate:
Prata served with Curry chicken two pieces
  • 8/10
  • The outside was perfectly crispy and buttery
  • The inside of the prate was somewhat doughy but I still liked it because it soaked up the curry chicken really well
  • The curry chicken sauce was well flavoured and different from your typical Indian curry
  • It was extremely flavourful and had a good balance of spices and sweetness
Fish Noodle Soup – Mohinga (Rice noodles, catfish broth, lemongrass, fresh cilantro, fried garlic, fried split chana dal)
  • 7.5/10
  • The catfish broth was well seasoned and went really well with the fried split chana dal
  • The fried split chana dal provided a nice and hard crunch to the dish
  • Well flavoured but portion was somewhat small
  • Lemongrass was quite prominent
Burmese Style Biryani – Danbauk (Marinated roasted chicken, basmati rice, seasoned with saffron, cloves, cinnamon, bay leaves, traditional spices
  • 8/10
  • This was a really interesting dish, never had anything like
  • The basmati rice was nice and fluffy and the saffron, clove and spices seasoning added extra depth to the rice
  • It was sweet yet salty and very fragrant
  • The marinated roasted chicken added an extra level of flavour when mixed with the rice it added extra savouriness
  • The chicken itself could have been more moist but it’s good that the marinade penetrated the chicken right to the bone
Shrimp fried rice (stir fried rice, onions, eggs, carrots, peas, green onions, corn, cucumbers, shrimp)
  • 7.5/10
  • This one was nothing special compared to the other dishes but it was very solid
  • The shrimp was fried nicely, very fragrant shrimp flavour throughout the dish
  • The peas, carrots and corn brought freshness to the dish
  • Still very enjoyable
