Morning Shanghai Restaurant

Date Visited: May 24 2015

What I ate:

It’s been a long time since I’ve had Morning Shanghai Restaurant – they used to be famous for their Sheng Jian Bao

Deep Fried Mini Bun

  • 6.5/10
  • The buns were okay – very filling and heavy

Pan Fried Pork Buns

  • 6/10
  • Wow this was a disappointing – they used to be the best, now they must have changed owners or chefs because it tastes different
  • The bottom was not crispy enough
  • There wasn’t enough soup inside – and the soup that was inside was not as flavourful as before
  • The meat was slightly tough

Wonton in Chilli Oil

  • 7/10
  • The wontons were okay
  • The chilli oil was not spicy enough, could have been more fragrant

Fried rice with shrimps and pickled cabbage

  • 7/10
  • good amount of friend rice
  • the shrimps were nice and crispy, not overcooked
  • I wish there could have been more pickled cabbage or one that was more tangy

Noodles in Chilli Sauce

  • 6/10
  • Noodles in chilli sauce was again not the same as before
  • The noodles didn’t really soak up the sauce
  • The peanut flavour was not strong enough
  • It was much spicier than usual

Check these fishies out

Address: Alexandra Plaza, 125-8291 Alexandra Road, Richmond

Type of Restaurant: Dim Sum, Shanghai, Asian

Price Range: $$

Overall: 6.5/10

Will come back? No

Summary: I’m very disappointed. It used to be one of my favourite Shanghai restaurants but now I’ll be on the search for a new Shanghai restaurant to visit. The food was sub-standard and the flavours were meh. Will not be returning
