Bubble Waffle was buzzing on a Saturday afternoon. It was pretty packed which was quite surprising. But it died down by around 2.
Usually at Bubble Waffle I get the Laksa, but since my friend had already chosen that, I decided to go for something different. I had their house made fish soup with oil noodles, beef brisket and curry fish balls. The noodles themselves were all broken. I picked some up and they were all chopped up bits of noodles, not good for longevity. Also they were over cooked. The house made fish soup was okay. Nothing special so I would just stick to the laksa. The beef brisket was also very inconsistent. Some of it was okay – with good layers of fat and everything – other tasted like rubber. The curry fish balls were also just mediocre – not enough curry flavour.
My friends laksa noodles was okay. I had a tasting of the broth and its much stronger than other bubble waffle places I’ve had before. It was a bit too spicy for my liking
Each meal came with a drink and I had the Hong Kong style milk tea. The milk tea was surprisingly strong and it tasted pretty good. Not too sweet, but I noticed it wasn’t filled all the way up and there was quite a bit of ice in it.
We had a bubble waffle (non-flavoured) to finish off the meal and it was just like all the other bubble waffles we have had around town. It was crunchy when it first landed on the table, but after it cools, it just becomes soggy. Also it’s a bit too sweet for my liking.
Overall: I thought that this is a pretty good location for a bubble waffle. There’s many schools in this area. The food was okay and the service was okay. Rating: 7/10
